"What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step." -- Antoine De Saint-Exupery Does the prospect of changing and growing seem monumental to you? Just too much to tackle? Then consider this approach. Take a simple step of affirming your openness to experience more or something new. Or a different first step might be to let go of judgment by embracing the neutral. Begin to see the people, activities and things around you as neither good nor bad. A journey is made of many small steps. Don’t focus on a far-off destination if you’re not clear how to get there. Build a foundation that is solid for you. We get to new places one step at a time. "You don't have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step." -- Martin Luther King, Jr. "One may walk over the highest mountain one step at a time." -- John Wanamaker
June 27 Spirit - the life force - exists in everything. It follows, then, that ANY path, any encounter is spiritual if we have the awareness to see it as such. Going deeper, going higher, emptying, connecting, believing or disbelieving, bouncing off the bottom, experiencing the heights, in pain, in ecstasy .... Too often, we search afar for our own purpose when it is in our lives all the time, waiting for us to express it more openly. Bring greater awareness to each encounter and situation in life. Tune in to what you are inspired to do, who you are inspired to be. Your answers are waiting for you to pay attention - every moment! "...focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it." -- Greg Anderson
June 11 And his paths shall be many, and who shall know his name, for he shall be born among us many times, in many guises, as he has been and ever will be, time without end. His coming shall be like the sharp edge of the plow, turning our lives in furrows from out of the places where we lie in our silence. The breaker of bonds; the forger of chains. The maker of futures; the unshaper of destiny.
- from Commentaries on the Propheciees of the Dragon, by Jurith Dorine, Right Hand to the Queen of Almoren, 742 AB, the Third Age Your attitude is not determined by circumstances, but by how you respond to your circumstances. You can respond positively or negatively to any situation. It's how you react to events, not the events themselves, that determines your attitude. Any challenge facing you is not as important as your attitude towards it, for that will determine your success or failure. Things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out. It's not your position but your disposition that counts.
The power to hold on in spite of everything, to endure, this is the quality of a winner. Your greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time you fail. It's your constant and determined effort that will eventually break down all resistance and sweep away all the barriers before you. Persistence means taking pains to overcome every obstacle, to do all that's necessary to reach your goal. All great achievements require time. Endurance is the crowning quality of success. The keys to your universe lie with the choices you make. You don't have to buy from anyone or work at any particular job. You don't have to participate in any given relationship. You can choose. The choice is always yours. You hold the tiller. You steer the course you choose in the direction of where you want to be today, tomorrow, or in a distant time to come. You can at any time decide to alter the course of your life. No one can ever take that away from you. April 25 Regina Spektor is in Town!!

Courage is a special kind of knowledge. It's the knowledge of how to fear what should be feared and how not to fear what should not be feared.
A brave mind is always impregnable. True courage is the result of reasoning. You're more important than your problems. You're bigger than anything that can happen to you.
Great things are accomplished when you believe that what's inside of you is superior to your circumstances. What you have outside you counts less than what you have inside you.
Nothing external to you has power over you.
April 18
First you make your habits, and then your habits make you. You become a slave to your constantly repeated acts. What at first you choose, at last compels.
Your habits are either the best of servants or the worst of masters. Your thoughts lead you on to a purpose, your purposes go forth in action.
Your actions form your habits. Your habits determine your character, and your character fixes your destiny.
Once in motion, a pattern stays in motion.
Newton's First Law
Newton's First Law was actually formulated by Galileo many years previous. It is called the Law of Inertia and states:
Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it.
Another way of stating this law in more detail is:
- If an object is motionless, it will stay motionless unless acted upon by some force.
- If an object is moving at a constant speed or velocity, it will continue at that speed unless acted upon by some force along the line of motion.
- If an object is moving, it will move in a straight line unless acted upon at an angle by some force.
The Law of Inertia assumes there is no friction or other resistive force that can slow down an object. Inertia can be best demonstrated in outer space.
Object will stay motionless
Objects that are not moving will remain motionless, unless you apply a force such as a push or pull. This law of nature makes sure things will stay where you put them.
A trick using inertia
There is the parlor trick of quickly pulling a tablecloth from under a setting of heavy dishes or some other objects, leaving them on the table. This trick works because the inertia of the heavy objects tends to keep them in place. By quickly pulling the tablecloth, the force of friction is easily overcome. If the tablecloth was pulled slowly, the friction would be greater than the inertia, and the dishes would follow along.
(Note: The tablecloth must be pulled down at the edge, otherwise the dishes may fly upward.)
Object will continue motion
Once you start an object moving, it will keep moving unless you apply a force in the opposite direction to slow it down. Typically, the force of friction will slow things down. But in order space, where friction is almost zero, an object will move at its given velocity forever unless acted upon by some external force.
If you push a moving object in the direction of motion, it will accelerate to a new velocity. Once you stop pushing, the object will continue at the velocity it had once you stopped pushing.
Things move in straight lines
The Law of Inertia states that moving objects go in a straight line. You must apply a force on an object to make it go in a circular motion. For example, when you spin an object around on a string, you are applying a force on that object from the string to make it go around. Once you let the string (or the force) go, the object will fly off in a straight line.
Likewise, the Moon is attracted to the Earth by the force of gravity. That force is just enough to make the Moon spin around the Earth. If gravity would stop, the Moon would fly off in a straight line into outer space.
Newton's Second Law
The second law is sometimes called the Law of Dynamics, because it concerns forces and what causes objects to move. It can be stated as:
The acceleration of an object of constant mass is proportional to the force acting upon it.
Acceleration is the changing of the velocity of the object. Usually, we are talking about the object speeding up. The word "deceleration" is usually used when the object is slowing down, but it also is acceleration or changing of the velocity.
A force is a push or pull on the object. It may pushing in direct contact or pulling at a distance in the case of gravity.
This law determines the relationship between force, mass and acceleration:
F = m*a
or
a = F/m
Note that the force F and acceleration a are in the same direction. Since they have a direction, they are called vectors.
What this law says is that while you are applying a force on an object, it will continue to accelerate or change its velocity. It also states that the greater the force on an object, the greater the acceleration.
Newton's Third Law
Newton's Third Law is sometimes called the Law of Reciprocal Actions or the Action-Reaction Law:
Whenever one body exerts force upon a second body, the second body exerts an equal and opposite force upon the first body.
This is often stated as: "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction," which can be confusing and even incorrect in some situations. Although it is easier to remember, it probably should be avoided.
Pushing against something
One example of this law is if you push against a door with a certain force, the door is also pushing with the same force against you.
Adding Newton's Second Law to this, if you and a friend are on roller skates or ice skates and facing each other, and then you push on your friend with a certain force, your friend will be accelerated backwards according to F = m*a. But because of Newton's Third Law, your push causes an equal opposite push on you. So you will also accelerate backwards.
The force you apply on your friend is F = m*a. So, the acceleration (a) of your friend's motion is dependent on the force you push (F) and his or her mass (m).
But also, that same force is applied on you. Suppose we call your mass (M) and your acceleration (A). Then since the forces are the same M*A = m*a. If your weight (or mass) is twice that of your friend, then your friend would move back twice as fast as you.
2*m*A = m*a
a = 2*A
Note: If you weigh twice as much as your friend, then either:
- You should go on a diet,
- You should get bigger friends, or
- You should not push little people around
Gravity
The action-reaction law also applies to the force of gravity, especially combined with Newton's Law of Dynamics. If you jump off a ladder, the force of gravity will pull you to the Earth according to F = m*g, where m is your mass and g is the acceleration due to gravity.
But that same force is working in an opposite direction on the Earth, pulling it toward you according to F = M*G, where M is the mass of the Earth and G is its acceleration. Since the mass of the Earth is so much greater than your mass, its movement is extremely small.
In conclusion
Isaac Newton defined his three laws of motion, which are the Law of Inertia, the Law of Dynamics and the Law of Reciprocal Actions. These laws can be verified in many common experiments, and they explain how and why objects move when forces are applied to them. April 17 Wealth without enjoyment is little consolation. Your real riches in life are riches of the head and heart. Satisfaction comes when you appreciate what you have.
While success is getting what you want, true happiness is wanting what you get.
It's not how much you have, but how much you enjoy that truly matters.
How Often have we seen something on TV, read about it in a magazine or saw something walking thru the mall window shopping. That you just had to have. The constant want and need to consume and gather all things bright and shiny the objects of desire in our eyes. Then once obtaining it, after a few hours, few days, weeks, that prized possession has fallen to the back of the closet, the junk drawer, the I'll wear it next season rack or most commonly the garbage. Where does this constant need to be the adult with the most toys come from. I was watching a morning talk show this morning while getting ready for work, and they said something that really struck a chord with me. That the Good Job, now you get a treat or something you want system with kids is teaching kids not to do the right thing because its moraly correct, but because they know that they will get rewarded. So, when does this system fail, we end up with a bunch of spoiled kids that know how to work the system and manipulate it to their advantage and grow up only doing things for the benefit that it is going to get them. Selfishness is what i have to say to that. So, after pondering this for a while, i tried to relate it to my life and BAM, a light went on. After recently purchasing my new pup, Harvey D, and experiencing his insane out of control attitude, I decided puppy training classes were in order. And step # 1, is of course getting your dog to listen, with what.... A TREAT!! So, now yes he's more attentive, but only if he knows that i have a treat in my hand or if he hears the clicker they gave me. So, once again we have this treat and reward system creating treat driven animals and humans. Oiy.. I know i'm just rambling on, but i just thought it was an interesting concept and wanted to hear others takes on what the long term affects could be on our future with this type of system being implemented in our society. Because I believe that with the over compensation with treats and rewarding a child, it takes away the knowledge they learn from working hard for a desired object and then obtaining it rather than just because your good. Knowing the value of a dollar, and how hard it is to make and obtain the things you want in life are valuable lessons every child should know.
But as we all know this world isn't perfect and we wouldn't have it any other way, because it takes all of us to make this world go round, we are all dependent on one another in some way shape of form. I hope that everyone takes time to find the riches within themselves rather than the shiny's dangling from them.

April 10
Written by Doreen Valiente
Whenever ye have need of anything,
once in the month and better it be when the moon is full,
then shall ye assemble in some secret place,
and adore the spirit of me,
who am Queen of all witches.
There shall ye assemble,
ye who are fain to learn all sorcery,
yet have not won its deepest secrets;
to these will I teach all things that are as yet unknown.
And ye shall be free from slavery;
and as a sign that ye be truly free,
you shall be naked in your rites;
and ye shall dance, sing, feast, make music and love,
all in my praise.
For mine is the ecstasy of the spirit,
and mine also is joy on earth;
for my law is love unto all beings.
Keep pure your highest ideals;
strive ever towards them,
let nothing stop you or turn you aside.
For mine is the secret door which
opens upon the Land of Youth,
and mine is the cup of the wine of life,
and the Cauldron of Cerridwen,
which is the Holy Vessel of Immortality.
I am the gracious Goddess,
who gives the gift of joy unto the heart of man.
Upon earth,
I give the knowledge of the spirit eternal;
and beyond death,
I give peace, and freedom,
and reunion with those who have gone before.
Nor do I demand sacrifice;
for behold, I am the Mother of all living,
and my love is poured out upon the Earth.
I am the beauty of the green earth,
and the white moon among the stars,
and the mystery of the waters,
and the desire of the heart of man.
Call unto thy soul, arise, and come unto me.
For I am the soul of Nature,
who gives life to the Universe.
From me all things proceed,
and unto me all things must return;
and before my face, beloved of gods and of men,
let thine innermost divine self be enfolded,
in the rapture of the infinite.
Let my worship be within the heart that rejoicest,
for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals.
Therefore, let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion, honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you.
And thou who thinketh to seek for me,
know thy seeking and yearning shall avail thee not,
unless thou knoweth the mystery;
that if that which thou seekest thou findest not within thee,
thou wilt never find it without thee.
For behold, I have been with thee from the beginning;
and I am that which is attained at the end of desire.
Labels limit us
"When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be." -- Lao Tzu
How do you label yourself? How do you label others?
Be aware that any label is limiting. Labels stick us in a box where there’s no room to move. Today, experience how it feels to let go of the labels to rest in ‘I am.’ Feel the freedom, the spaciousness, the infinite potential of simply being.
"As long as I am this or that, I am not all things." -- Meister Eckhart
"Your only limitations are those you set up in your mind, or permit others to set up for you." -- Og Mandino
April 05 MAKING CHOICES IS YOUR GREATEST POWER
You can decide to alter the course of your life at any time. No one can ever take that away from you. You can do what you want to do and be who you want to be.
Nature is constantly at work around you. Character and destiny are her handiwork. She gives you love and hate, jealousy and reverence. You have the power to choose which impulse you follow.
While your character is formed by your circumstances, your desires can shape those circumstances. The one thing over which you have absolute control is your own thoughts. It is this that puts you in a position to control your own destiny.
Your greatest power is the power to choose. April 04
Think, every day, something no one else is thinking.
Do, every day, something no one else would be silly enough to do.
It is bad for the mind to be always part of unanimity.
April 03 OPPORTUNITY KNOCKS ALL THE TIME
The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, for time and chance happen to everyone. Take a second look at what appears to be someone's "good luck." You'll find not luck but preparation, planning and success-producing thinking.
Opportunity is around you all the time, but you have to be ready for it. When your chance comes, you must have the equipment to take advantage of it.
When you're prepared for opportunity, your chance for success is sure to come. The season of failure is the best time for sowing the seeds of success. The tide of opportunity comes to everyone.
YOU HAVE TO GIVE BEFORE YOU GET It's a universal law: You only get to keep what you give away. You must plant your seeds before you reap the harvest. The more you sow, the more you will reap. In giving to others, you will find yourself blessed.
The law works to give you back more then you have sown. The giver's harvest is always full. Those that obtain have little. Those who scatter have much.
Nature does not give to those who will not spend
YOUR FUTURE IS A BIG ADVENTURE Focus on your future, not your past. Prepare for your future, don't live in the past. Relish your good memories and use any bad ones as lessons in life.
Sooner or later, those who win are those who think they can. The cards you're dealt in life are less important than the way you play them. Every day you face a new deck and new cards.
Carve out a niche for yourself in your imagined future. Begin immediately to think and feel yourself as successful. To achieve your goal in life, you need to project your end result.
Think of the elation, the satisfaction, the joy you'll feel when you've achieved your objective. Carry these ecstatic feelings with you every day and they will bring your desired goals into view.
Success is waiting for you.
